Set a question for the board
Start with the feeling or problem you want to explore. “How can this brand feel welcoming and precise?” gives you more direction than “find nice designs.” Collect a small set of references that answer that question through colour, photography, typography or composition.
Explain each reference
Write one sentence beside every image describing what you want to learn from it. You might admire the quiet spacing, the warm light or the confident use of scale. Separate those qualities from the exact composition so the board encourages original work rather than imitation.
Find the recurring ideas
Look for patterns across the board. Choose three principles that describe the direction, such as generous space, natural textures and direct language. Remove references that pull the project away from those principles, even if you like them individually.
Make one small prototype
Translate the direction into a single poster or website section. Use your own content and assets you have permission to use. Compare the prototype with the three principles and refine it. The goal is a clear creative approach that belongs to the project, not a collage of other people’s work.
